Quick Trip

Draper, Utah Temple

Friday morning Kennedy and I drove up to St. George and met up with my sister and her family to drive to Salt Lake to be at the temple with my other sister when she received her endowment on Saturday morning. 4 kids, 3 adults, 1 suburban, and 36 hours; sounds like a recipe for disaster, but it was great. The kids did very well in the car---we didn't even make a stop! The Draper Temple was beautiful and it was so nice to be with my family there. We are home now safe and sound. It was a quick trip, but well worth it.

I'm not so smart!

I was so proud of myself for finally changing the background on my blog--Yay for me!
That is until I viewed it AFTER I had saved the changes! So much for any commentary to all my old posts. All the words are GONE!!! Hopefully you read them already because I don't know what happened or how to get it back---HELP!!!
Well, atleast it's cute now and everyone just wants to see pictures anyway.
So apparently I'm not that smart---not that I really thought I was anyway, but you know?!

Kennedy's 1st Ponytail

So Kennedy's hair is finally long enough (on the top) to put it in a ponytail. I thought this would be a great new way to keep her clips in her hair seeing as she pulls the headbands off....well she's too smart. About 10 minutes later this bow was out and half the ponytail too. Thus the battle begins. I remember being little and hating getting my hair done. Oh the price we pay for beauty!

Classic Kennedy with her tongue sticking out!

Splish Splash

So Kennedy has graduated to the big tub for her baths and she absolutely LOVES it!!! She loves to make her fish float and she also loves to kick--Jake and I end up as wet as her! Another new favorite thing is brushing her teeth....I mean gums (she still doesn't have teeth!!) As soon as she sees the "toothbrush" she opens her mouth. Hopefully this is the start of a healthy habit!

Yum---toothpaste
How cute is that?!?!

I LOVE FOOD!!

So those of you that know me well know that I LOVE food! I love to eat food, make food, shop for food, look at food, etc. It's a wonder I don't weigh 300 lbs!! I haven't always loved food, but I do now. The only problem is that I eat too much of the bad stuff and not enough of the right stuff. I would rather have a cookie than anything else...morning, noon, or night. I do admit I have eaten dessert (i.e. angel food cake) for breakfast! What a bad example I am setting for Kennedy! I have been thinking that I need to start watching what I eat. Pregnancy and breastfeeding have been really good excuses to eat everything and anything I want and as much of it as I want! I was needing some motivation, but instead I have been forced!!! Kennedy has tested positive for some severe food allergies, and seeing as I am still breastfeeding, that means that I can't eat those foods either! Do you feel sorry for me?!?! I feel sorry for myself! I am currently limited to fruits, veggies, meat, and rice. Exciting, huh? I think the best thing I have had to eat all week is a sweet potato. Don't get me wrong, it was good, but that is definitely no treat for me. I am dying for a cookie!!!! Not to mention that veggies don't stay with you very long...I'm always starving. I'm sure I'll survive; I know it could be worse. You know it's bad though when you dream about food. I totally had a dream last night that I ate a huge piece of cheesecake WITH the knowledge that I shouldn't be doing it. Thank goodness it was only a dream and I really didn't eat it! I love Kennedy so much that she's worth it! I really can't wait for a cookie though. This may be my motivation to wean her.....as soon as she decides she can survive on something besides breastmilk. So far we are hoping that coconut milk will do the trick. I'll keep you posted. In the meantime, have a treat for me....just don't tell me because I will be jealous ;)

Time Flies When You're Having Fun......

So it's been quite a while since my last post. Since Hawaii we have been to Salt Lake (twice), St. George, and Jake's been to Delaware (twice) and finally to Sacramento. We are all home and back together now. I think we'll stay put for a while. Here is a picture summary of the last 2 months: trips, birthdays, visits to and from grandparents and cousins, summer fun, and graduation. I'll try to be better about staying more current!

ALOHA!!!

This past week we went to Oahu. Jake had received a travel card from Pfizer that had to be used before the end of April, soooooooo we went to Hawaii and took Kennedy. Call us crazy, but we did it! It turned out pretty good too--a few snags, but overall a great vacation. Kennedy was perfect on both of the flights--thank goodness! Here are a few pictures. We don't have pictures from Pearl Harbor or snorkeling at Hanauma Bay, but here is pretty much everything else. My aunt and uncle live in Oahu, so we had babysitters too! Lucky us!

It's always fun when Grandpa comes!

Grandpa and Kennedy

My dad drove down from Salt Lake to visit us for a quick 24 hours. We packed in the fun. We went to Cheesecake Factory, In-n-Out Burger, and Bass Pro Shop. Jake and my dad also found time to hit a bucket of balls and do a plumbing repair. We loved every minute of it!!!!

Dad, thanks so much for coming! We LOVE you and hope you come visit again soon, but stay a little longer next time!

Jake can cook!!!

Jake has always said that he likes to cook, but this week he has proved it! I was busy getting Kennedy to bed one night and Jake and I were both starving, so I asked Jake to get dinner started by boiling some water for the pasta. The next thing I know he is asking what we are having and what else he can do. I told him to look in the cookbook at the recipe I wanted to try. When I came downstairs 15 minutes later, I went to take over but Jake insisted he could handle it. Shortly thereafter, Jake served me dinner---yes, served! It was so YUMMY!!! We were both impressed and liked it so well that Jake decided he wanted to cook it again for dinner the next night. He told me it was pretty easy and I told him that pretty much everything I make is. I suggested we rotate cooking---we'll see if it really happens, but it's a great idea. Jake also decided we needed to make cookies to take to some friends and once again I was busy with Kennedy (story of my life), so Jake got out the mixer and made cookies! They were excellent---I think they tasted better than when I make them, or maybe it was just that I didn't have to put in any effort that made them taste so great! Wait, I take that back---I did put in some effort; I got stuck with half of the dishes and baking the batches after the first one was done. Anyways, Jake is a great cook and I am enjoying his efforts!!
